DREAMERS’ Nick Wold shares about his musical process and upcoming tours

Bummer Brews had the opportunity to attend a °1824 press conference with Nick Wold, of pop-rock duo DREAMERS ahead of their upcoming co-headlining runs with The Score and Smallpools, respectively. Wold discussed his creative process, the early beginnings of DREAMERS, and how he hopes his audience consumes and resonates with the group’s music.

Starting out with discussing the songwriting process, Wold explained that he is always in the “creative zone” because the band writes so often. He finds influence from his incredibly vivid dreams, something that inspired the name of the band, and cites The Beatles, Nirvana, and Soundgarden as some of his earliest musical influences. The group uses life experiences as inspiration, and love that music is a way to communicate “crazy, strong emotions”.

Known for their theatrical, out of this world production style, Wold teased the upcoming tour shows saying that their light show is the “biggest one they’ve ever had”. A self-described “tech nerd”, Wold explained his various interests in AR projection, VR technology, and other ways to “dress up” the music at their live shows. A huge fan of movies and cinematic experiences, DREAMERS loves taking the chance to pretend they’re making movies through their music videos.

When asked what he hopes his audience takes away from their music, Wold explains that a lot of DREAMERS songs come from a place of nostalgia, describing an example of being a “sad person’s happy moment” and perfect for listening to in cars or bedrooms by yourself, situations in which music can really impact you on a personal level.  He discussed his personal experience with music, explaining that it’s something that inspires him and makes him want to be a better person, and that he hopes that DREAMERS can provide that for their audience.

DREAMERS is currently on the ‘No More Bad Days’ tour, co-headlining with The Score. They’ll be joining Smallpools to co-headline the ‘Cameras and Coastlines’ tour later this fall. Their first shows since the pandemic, DREAMERS has released a ton of new music and have grown as both artists and people.
