Show Review: COIN in Dallas, Texas

The indie-pop hitmaker COIN showed Dallas that they are more than just a boyband.  Performing at The Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas on August 7th, COIN won the hearts and attention of the warm, welcoming crowd. The Tennessee natives brought an intensity to the stage that the studio recordings did not have. The show is unforgettable with beautifully thought out visuals and killer vocal performances, COIN has truly set the standard for live music.

Starting the show with a visual and musical introduction excited the crow while waiting for the band to walk out onto the stage. The neon squares illuminating the venue were the audience’s first visuals, which felt like a suitable choice as they remained a constant presence behind the band throughout the course of the concert. The stage turned into a navy haze once the band entered the stage, the cheers and buzz of the crowd easily transitioned into the opening bars of “Chapstick,”  The indie, new-wave alternative group dazzled the crowd with their performance, leaving little room for any sort of critique against them.

The visual of the led screens behind the band's tones down as they started the first verse of “Into My Arms” drawing the attention of the crowd to the lead singer Chase Lawrence and away from the screen as they dramatized the expressions on the screen melting into softly shimmering circles and butterflies.

They carried light energy, alongside their music, that lifted the crowd metaphorically, and literally. The center of the audience drifted, fluttered, and danced into one another, as they lost their inhibitions. There was lightning in the air, a feeling of safety brought on by the dopamine flowing out of each individual.
There were many heartwarming moments between the band and the crowd as they performed “Let It All Out”, with silent sobs from the fans standing in true admiration as the band finished the song. Lawrence was taken back as the crowd continued their cheering approval long after the song was finished and went on to express the band’s hopes and dreams of headlining and selling out the American Airlines Center in Dallas, which led to a standing ovation from the crowd showing their support and love for them.

The band ended the show with their most famous song “Talk Too Much” which had the audience screaming the lyrics, dancing, and just really feeling the music and enjoying themselves. The band left the crowd reassured, saying, “We’ll keep coming back and coming back. And keep coming back,” before they thanked the crowd one last time and left the stage and audience in a state of bliss.

As the crowd cheered and thanked them, the band was left shining in the middle, as the crowd and stage became two sides of the same COIN.
