Song Review: “Misbehave” by YOUR ANGEL

YOUR ANGEL (AKA Maddy Boyd) is an LA-based dream pop artist that has released a new single called “Misbehave!” If the catchy, ethereal qualities of “Misbehave” are any indication, YOUR ANGEL is poised for a strong 2023.

“Misbehave” kicks off with a moderately paced synth that underpins the first verse (and a lot of other sections of this song) where Maddy delivers the opening lines “Pick up the pace / Stop messing around / I know at this stage / There’s walls to break down.” This infectious track is all about Maddy’s desire to move quickly with her then new boyfriend, skipping all the feeling-out of one another’s personalities and life that one usually encounters in the early stages of dating. The immediate connection and curiosity that cements their relationship is stated plainly in the chorus, “It’s nice to / Get to know ya / So won’t you / Stay with me tonight”.

The constant drive of synths makes this song feel like the perfect tune to drive along to at night pondering over your love life and where it will take you tomorrow and the many days that follow.

“Misbehave” was written and produced by Maddy Boyd with further production from Stephanie D’Arcy and Nick Noneman. Connect with YOUR ANGEL
