Song Review: “flowers” by joan

Arkansas alt-pop duo joan have released their latest single, “flowers”, accompanying the announcement of their long awaited debut album, titled superglue

A nostalgia fueled track, “flowers” describes the process of growing and changing as a person while staying reminiscent of the past, with a common theme of thinking of people you used to know and wondering “why don’t we talk anymore?”. “You make so many memories in those formative years” the band explained in a statement  “but then you grow. It happens slow - years go by, seasons change. That’s just life. If you’re lucky some of those people stick around. But for a lot of us, you’re left asking, ‘why don’t we talk anymore?’. That’s what this song is to us.“ Masterfully blending bright, longing guitar riffs with heartfelt, melodic vocals, “flowers” leaves you longing for the past, and longing for more from this electric duo.

joan is currently on tour in Asia, making stops in Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and the Philippines before the end of the year. Their debut album superglue comes out April 19th, 2023.

“flowers” is out now on all streaming platforms!
