Song Review: “Brad Pitt” by Coin
In a departure from their historically chill, indie-pop style, Nashville-based band COIN shows listeners that they aren’t afraid to think outside of the box with their latest single, “Brad Pitt.” Featuring rad synths, rocking guitar riffs, and stellar vocal effects, COIN once again proves that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Following the trajectory of their massively successful single Chapstick (which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay chart), “Brad Pitt” follows a tumultuous, back and forth relationship. With repeated pleas to “keep me young forever,” and little mention of its namesake, the song touches on the addictive, self-destructive nature associated with toxic relationships. Wavy, electronic vocal effects in the pre-chorus add to the chaotic, out of control feeling that the song portrays.
With an upcoming North American tour supporting their latest album, Uncanny Valley, a UK tour supporting 5SOS, and festival dates including Bonnaroo and Governors Ball, I see great things ahead for COIN this year.
“Brad Pitt”, off of COIN’s latest album Uncanny Valley, is out now on all streaming platforms.
