Song Review: “Champagne” by Valley

Valley encourages listeners to look on the bright side with their latest single “Champagne.”

The first release following their massively successful ‘I’ll Be With You’ tour through the US, “Champagne” is fans’ first glimpse of the new era of Valley.

Featuring drummer Karah James on vocals alongside lead singer Rob Laska, “Champagne” is a peppy, upbeat track. With lyrics that match the uplifting nature of the accompanying instrumental (provided by guitarist Mickey Brandolino and bassist Alex Dimauro), the song chronicles picking yourself back up after a toxic relationship (“You can break my heart, I’m not broken / Another maze and I made it out”). Valley speaks to the importance of keeping your head up in the face of heartbreak (“I’ll turn this pain into champagne”).

Valley has planned festival appearances at Governors Ball, Wonderstruck, and Life is Beautiful later this year. With numerous teasers of other new music and a recent appearance at the JUNO awards, it’s sure to be a big year for Valley.

Champagne is out now on all streaming platforms.
