Single Review: “Upside Down” by The Rosies

With summer on its way in, the people needed a “scream the words at the top of our lungs at midnight” song and Ohio band The Rosies delivered just that. The dynamic powerhouse in the realm of garage rock (with definite hints of punk), has burst onto the scene with their latest single, “Upside Down,” electrifying listeners with a relentless surge of raw energy.

From the first electrifying chords that tear through your car speakers, The Rosies establish their authority. The guitar work is nothing short of blistering, with searing riffs and ear melting solos that will ignite some fire within. The song will make you take a second, to pause and applaud the guitar work. It is purely a sonic journey. The bassist provides a dynamic foundation, infusing melodies that add depth and intensity to each composition. The drummer, with electric fills and beats, propels the song forward, injecting it with an unrelenting energy.

“Upside Down” gives listeners an opportunity to reflect on their emotions. We are humans, and we simply cannot run away from our emotions. Sometimes, because life loves to work like this, you simply do not know what to do with your emotions. You want to pinpoint them but you just can’t pinpoint them. You feel “inside out and upside down.” Do I need help? Or am I just going to be on this journey forever? Who knows!

With their exceptional instrumental skills, The Rosies stake their claim as a force to be reckoned with in the realm of garage rock punk. Their ability to seamlessly merge raw energy with technical proficiency sets them apart, breathing new life into the genre. This song deserves to be played loud while driving with the windows down, trust me. Drive safe!
