Long Island trio Hopeless Romantic’s debut album, Faded In My Mind, is a scream-your-lungs-out compilation of bangers. Fronted by Ryan Daniels (guitar/vocals) and backed by Jared Grossman (bass) and Shane Hahnel (drums), HoRo takes inspiration from the 2000s emo of their hometown and makes it feel brand new with biting lyrics and creative instrumentation. The album’s tracks oscillate between catchy, dance-y songs led by melodic bass lines and slower, more simplistic songs that double as gripping confessionals. Somehow they balance perfectly, which is all the more impressive given that this is their first LP. Clocking in at just under 34 minutes, Faded In My Mind is easily one of the summer’s defining emo releases.
