mewithoutYou (with show review)
On Tuesday, June 21st, I had the opportunity to see Philadelphia band mewithoutYou play their final Florida show. After more than twenty years as an active band, mewithoutYou is on the road for their final tour, fittingly named the “Farewell Tour.” The band posted a statement in 2019, initially citing 2020 as their last year, before having to postpone tours due to Covid. So, now in 2022, they are finishing their last shows as an active band.
The show I attended was at the Beacham in Orlando, Florida and after attending a vast variety of shows, I can say this was one of the most emotionally pact concerts I have yet to see. Regardless of what genre you may try to catEgorize mewithoutYou as, they still stand in a league of their own. With the presence frontman Aaron Weiss commands while on stage, it comes as no surprise. The crowd was filled with both crying and smiling fans alike, all filled with energy as they sang and moshed their hearts out!
Even when there were slight technical difficulties, the room was still buzzing with excitement as Aaron Weiss took a vote on what acoustic song to play while the issues were being dealt with. This would then lead to an overwhelming majority vote for “Fox, Crow, and Cookie” that the band would all join in for towards the end as a disco ball fell from the ceiling and lit up the whole venue.
This last Florida show served as an emotional exit for mewithoutYou as the band and fans exchanged thanks and goodbyes. If you want to see mewithoutYou while you still have the chance, make sure to snag some tickets here and if you want to support them, you can find their merchandise here!
